Since its release in 2016, the Toyota Prius Prime has been a favorite among hybrid-vehicle drivers. With the release of the 2020 Prius Prime on the horizon, Toyota has released some details about this new vehicle, and its upgrades may make the 2020 Prius Prime the best Prius yet. Here’s why you may want to consider upgrading to the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime.

Upgraded Interior

One of the most frequent complaints of past Prius Primes was the lack of interior space and standard interior features. Fortunately, the 2020 Prius Prime delivers upgrades in both departments. Perhaps most exciting is the addition of a rear bench with enough space for another seat, transforming the previous four-seater Prius Prime into a five-seater. Since the 2020 Prius Prime’s overall dimensions haven’t been adjusted to accommodate that fifth seat, you likely won’t be fitting all three of your adult friends into the back seat, but the addition will be especially helpful for those with children.

In addition to a more spacious interior, the 2020 Prius Prime also brings with it improved interior features. While USB charge ports were previously reserved for those in the front seat, backseat passengers now have two new USB charge ports available. The 2020 Prius Prime also adds sun-visor extensions for sunny days, black interior accents to replace the white accents of which many weren’t a fan, and more convenient seat-heater buttons.

Improved Connectivity

If you’re really going to enjoy the increased space that the Prius offers, you need to be able to stay entertained and connected on the go. Thanks to the new USB ports, you’ll be able to charge your phone while on the road, whether you’re driving for ten minutes or ten hours. iPhone users will also be happy about the 2020 Prius Prime’s addition of Apple CarPlay. Now you can connect your Apple device to your vehicle and enjoy entertainment and navigation features wherever you are.

Apple CarPlay, along with Amazon Alexa compatibility, comes standard on the Prius Prime. And while some 2020 Toyota vehicles will have Android Auto come standard, Android users will have to wait a bit longer for the Prius Prime to be compatible with their devices.

Hybrid Efficiency

The 2020 Prius Prime continues its reign as one of the most efficient vehicles on the market. The 2020 model will run on a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine that teams up with an electric motor and its 8.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. Together, the system will produce 121 horsepower.

On the electric engine alone, the Prius Prime can go 25 miles before it either needs a recharge or switches to the gasoline engine. Together though, the hybrid system will drive the Prius Prime for 640 miles. When the gasoline engine kicks in, the hybrid drives at 54 miles-per-gallon, the highest mpg of plug-in hybrids currently on the market.

With its additions and upgrades, the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime is looking to be the best of its kind when it releases this summer. Keep your eye on Burien Toyota for the release of this top-notch hybrid.
