The Toyota Prius is a much beloved vehicle here in the Puget Sound area. We all know someone who owns one (at least) and they are prevalent on our roadways more than just about anywhere else in the country (other than California). Seattle-area residents love our beautiful surrounding environment, we are pretty active in social issues (like the environment and gasoline dependency), and we like to save money on gas (because we live in a part of the country where the price is gas is almost at its highest).

The Toyota Prius helps solve a lot of problems we care about. And we love it for that.

Well, there’s going to be even more love about the Toyota Prius with the newest version coming out.

Ok, ok. So we expect the Toyota Prius to get fantastic gas mileage, but one thing Toyota has continually improved upon with each Prius model is its performance. Toyota may have nailed it this time. Believe it or not, the 2010 Prius went 0-60 in 10.6 seconds and we expect the new version to be even better.

Additionally, the interior of the new Prius will be borderline luxurious and spacious. In fact, while definite specs are not available yet, there is speculation that interior space will rival that of some minivans.

And if the pictures that are available are even close to what the production model will look like, then the Toyota Prius is also going to be the coolest looking hybrid on the road. It is a statement-maker!

How does that sound? A vehicle that gets great gas mileage, has plenty of get-up-and-go, is large enough on the inside to rival minivans, AND looks super cool.

Sounds like a winner to us and we can’t wait until the new Toyota Prius becomes available because we think it will serve the residents of Western Washington extremely well because, just as with previous models, it will meet our needs exactly.

Always innovating and creating better driving experiences for drivers, Toyota is looking ahead to the future of hybrid technology that will only improve its status as the industry-leader in hybrid technology.

The Toyota Prius, the brand's first production gas-electric hybrid model, remains the world's best-selling hybrid with more than three million sold worldwide since its introduction. The Prius also continues to dominate the hybrid category in the United States, where more than 1.5 million Prius vehicles have been sold since 2000.

Beyond its tremendous sales success, the Prius also focused attention on the potential for hybrid vehicles to help reduce cars' environmental impact. The third-generation Prius model became the foundation of a family of hybrid models, offering a Prius for every lifestyle, the family includes the larger Prius v, the city-friendly Priusc and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid.  In terms of number of models offered and sales volume, Toyota is the world leader in hybrid vehicles. "The Toyota Prius put hybrid vehicles on the map," said Ted Klarich, general sales manager at Burien Toyota. "People knew about hybrid technology but not very many of them felt comfortable buying one until the Toyota Prius. Toyota built a car that let people believe in and trust hybrid technology. And we haven't looked back."

Prius is classified as a midsize car by the EPA, thus making it the most fuel-efficient car without a plug in that segment.

A full hybrid, the Prius can run on the gasoline engine alone, battery alone, or a combination of both. The driver can select from among four driving modes, "Normal," "POWER," ECO" and "EV." The EV Mode allows driving on battery power alone at low speeds for about a mile, if conditions permit. POWER Mode increases sensitivity to throttle input for a sportier feel; ECO Mode helps drivers enhance fuel economy by adjusting throttle input and climate control. A standard Multi-information Display panel monitors the vehicle's fuel and battery energy, and includes a display that helps the driver adopt economical driving habits.
